Marina Vaughan Spitzy, TEP
That is the question at the heart of my work.
I advise individuals and families through moments of transition — when wealth changes hands, responsibility shifts, or existing structures no longer fit.
Together, we explore the questions that sit beneath those moments:
How do people grow into the responsibility of ownership?
My work brings together governance, succession, philanthropy and strategic advisory to help people navigate not only the technical complexities of wealth, but the human journey of carrying it well.
A member of a fifth-generation family enterprise, Marina brings personal experience of the opportunities, complexities and responsibilities that come with shared ownership across generations. Growing up within that environment taught her that wealth is never only about structures. It is about people, relationships, responsibility and the questions that pass from one generation to the next.
That experience continues to shape both her advisory work and her research.
Before founding Tecolote Advisory and joining Corecam Private Office, Marina worked across London, Washington DC and Vienna in international affairs, strategic philanthropy and private wealth. Her career has included advising ultra-high-net-worth families, foundations and NGOs, working at the intersection of private wealth, civil society and long-term impact.
Together, these experiences have shaped the way Marina approaches family enterprise: bringing together governance, systems thinking and the human dimensions of ownership.
Marina's work is values-led but never values-prescriptive. She does not bring her own agenda to client engagements. Her role is to help individuals and families discover what matters most to them, and to build the clarity and confidence to act on it.
She is drawn less to easy answers than to the questions that change the conversation. Rather than confirming what clients already believe, Marina helps them explore assumptions, navigate complexity and arrive at decisions that genuinely belong to them.
Her thinking is shaped by interests that extend well beyond wealth advisory — history, international relations, philanthropy, the natural world, art, and the ways people and institutions exercise power. That breadth is not incidental to her work. It allows her to see wealth not simply as a financial resource, but as something that influences identity, relationships, responsibility and the choices families make across generations.
For Marina, governance is never only about structures. It is about creating the conditions in which people can grow into the responsibility of ownership with clarity, confidence and purpose.
Marina undertakes and co-authors original research on questions of wealth, ownership and leadership in family enterprise.
Her current work includes Women in Power — co-authored with Ramia El Agamy and supported by Women in Family Business — which draws on the experiences of 106 women across more than 20 countries to explore authority, succession and agency in family enterprise.
Earlier in her career, Marina contributed to numerous research publications across a wide range of fields — from transatlantic relations and international security at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) to disability inclusion and global best practice through the Zero Project. That breadth continues to shape her approach to research today: combining rigorous inquiry with practical application across disciplines.
Research enquiries and collaboration proposals are welcome.

Before founding Tecolote Advisory and joining Corecam Private Office, Marina worked across London, Washington DC and Vienna in international affairs, philanthropy and private wealth. Her career has included advising ultra-high-net-worth families, foundations and NGOs, and working at the intersection of wealth, civil society and impact long before these disciplines became closely connected.
Her background in international relations, history and strategic philanthropy continues to shape the way she approaches family enterprise — bringing together governance, systems thinking and the human dimensions of ownership.
Tecolote Advisory does not provide financial, legal, or tax advice. I work alongside specialist advisers – and as part of the Corecam Private Office team – to ensure the human and strategic dimensions of wealth are not lost in translation.
